Posted in Uncategorized with tags paranormal on September 13, 2009 by mardeckOur Sept. meeting went well. There are plans to hold a contest on Twitter to come up with a special logo. Interviews are underway with a family in Kaufman County with multiple claims of poltergeist and full bodied apparitions. An investigation will be scheduled in the near future. We are still talking with a radio staton with claims of people walking out in the halls at night when no one is there other than the DJ. The next meeting will be in October at the Dairy Queen in Seven Points.

CCL Paranormal Society Meets at Haunted Catfish Plantation
Posted in Trips & Investigations with tags apparition, Catfish Plantation, ghost, haunted, spirit, Waxahachie on August 9, 2009 by mardeckCedar Creek Lake Paranormal Society chose to hold their August meeting at the famous haunted Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie, TX. Wouldn’t you know that a wedding party of 30 decided to have their rehersal dinner on the same night. Only three of our members were present for the meeting. They were Martha, Brianna and Tamra. They missed having the other members present for discussion. The 25 minute wait turned into and hour long wait, but the food was worth it as was conversation with other diners. The Catfish Plantation has several large books brimming with stories from previous patrons about ghostly encounters in several areas inside the restaurant.

Wish the rest could have made the meeting
The Catfish Plantation is an old home turned into a restaurant many years ago where three spirits have been described to still hang around by other paranormal investigators. Catfish Plantation has even been shown on the Travel Channel series Extreme Restaurants.
Cedar Creek Lake Paranormal Society July Minutes
Posted in Meeting information with tags investigation, paranormal, Texas on July 25, 2009 by mardeckCedar Creek Lake Paranormal Society met July 10 at the Dairy Queen in Seven Points, TX at 7:00 PM. Present were Brianna, Tamra, Cathy and Martha. Not present were Kathy, Pam and Kelly.
- There was one visitor at the end of the meeting
- Everyone present stated they saw the minutes of the June meeting on our blog.
- Members were asked for any ideas for a logo design. One suggestion was to use a photo I took of an old historic house and “trick” it up.
- It was decided to put the overnight to the Jefferson Hotel on hold for a later date.
- Discussed an upcoming paranormal investigation. Several dates were discussed and we settled on July 25 so that Brianna could participate. This house has possible paranormal activity and the owner agreed to allow CCLPSinvestigate as a practice run for our less experienced investigators. CCPLS will meet at 8:00 PM for the investigation.
- Members agreed to hold the August meeting at the Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie. Meeting time will be at 7:30 PM. Members in the lake area can meet and carpool.
- Brianna told us she spoke to a program director for a nearby radio station and they seem to have a problem with employees seeing a person when no one else is around and are interested in a paranormal investigation. Martha will contact the program director.
- Martha told members that she plans to contact a woman in Kaufman County who lives in an old house where multiple people have seen full bodied apparitions in the home and outside on the property, poltergiest activity, knocks and voices. Martha will make contact with the family and se if they want a paranormal investigation.
- Members spoke with a lady from the Eustace area who claims to have spirits all over her property she has photographed. We viewed some of her photos and gave her suggetions on how to reasearch her property and former owners. She believes she has captured thousands of orbs in her photographs. We gave her information on debunking orbs CCLPS obtained from Troy Taylor on his web site and the American Ghost Society.
The “practice” investigation has ben cancelled and wll be rescheduled.
June Cedar Creek Lake Paranormal Society Meeting
Posted in Meeting information with tags Cedar Creek Lake, ghost, investigation, meeting, paranormal on June 30, 2009 by mardeckThe monthly Cedar Creek Lake Paranormal Society meeting was held at Jalapeno Tree in Gun Barrel City, TX at 7:00 pm.
Items discussed were:
- Those not present included Cathy Hogan, Pam Silva, Kathy Henderson and Kelly Acorn. Everyone else was present.
- Tamra Brickey spoke to a woman regarding an investigation occurring at her home due to unexplainedactivity inside the house. The home is in Rice and a relative passed away in one of the bedrooms and seems to be returning to this room, according to the interview. Other incidents include lights flickering in the kitchen only when all the family members are present and an individal reported seeing clouds in the closet. The family asked to be contacted again regarding the incidents and Ms. Brickey is trying to contact but has been playing phone tag with the woman so a possible investigation can be set. We think this merits further discussion with the family to see what they want to occur.
- Martha Decker spoke at length to a man in Oklahoma who thought something strange and unexplained occurred in his apartment. After the discussion and speaking with other family members it was agreed to close this call.
- A call was put out to members requesting help with a design for the CCLPS logo. Everyone was asked to think creatively and see what we could come up with in the near futue.
- If we should hold a monthly meeting at the Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie. Part of the allure for the meeting there is that it is close and known world-wide as a haunted location. We decided not to meet there at this time and to change the July meeting to July 10 because of the July Fourth holiday. It will be held at the Dairy Queen in Seven Points at 7:00 pm.
- A discussion occurred abou CCLPS going to Jefferson TX and staying at the haunted Jefferson Hotel on July 25th. It was decided to finalize the decision during the July monthly meeting.
This is what occurred during the June meeting. An email will be sent to members reminding them of the date change for the July meeting.
May Meeting
Posted in Trips & Investigations with tags apparition, civil war, Diamond Bessie, ghost, haunted, investigation, Jefferson, Jefferson Hotel, Jefferson Texas, paranormal on May 3, 2009 by mardeckWe had another great meeting. May was the change of meeting locations. Everyone likes the idea of moving around. So this is what we will do. We were in Seven Points for May and will return to Gun Barrel for June.
CCLPS may go to Jefferson TX in July for an overnight stay at the Jefferson Hotel. No one has been there, except for Tamra Brickey and Martha Decker. It will be a fun evening and a good training location.
If anyone else would like to join the group for this investigation, please leave a comment and I will contact you by email. If there is enough interest I can put together a program with a possible late night investigation for everyone. I would need the contact information by the end of May to give me time to set up a special investigation.
The First Official Investigation and Training

Looking for Investigations
Our group of seven women had our first “official” investigation on a Friday night. Our initial location fell through at the last minute, but we were able to make contact with a cemetery association and get permission to investigate. Our policy is to not reveal the name or location of the cemetery to protect it from vandals. The conditions were not ideal for an investigation. However, we needed to have a training session since the majority of members have not done this type of investigation. We were at the cemetery for three hours and I think it went well. A lot was learned that can be applied to the next investigation.
This cemetery has been touted by locals as “haunted” for many years. I have lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area since the mid 80’s and have heard the stories. We did not have any paranormal experiences but did have the chance to use a variety of equipment. Everyone took digital photographs, used video cameras and tried EVP sessions with their digital recorders. Once we were done, each person was responsible for reviewing their own evidence.
It was a busy Friday night on the road to nowhere that continued past the cemetery but no one saw our vehicles as we were able to park out of sight. We were careful to keep flashlights to a minimum when traffic went past. Even the local sheriff’s office was notifed when we arrived and departed should they have received any calls.
We split up in teams of two and then teams of three to do various investigations. Photography was first for the investigation. Then we did the video investigation with EVP sessions at the end. I think this allowed the group to keep lights flashing and flashlights geting in the way to a minimum.
There were a few pictures with odd things like light moving where tree limbs should be or what looked like a face in the middle of one shot. Further review of these pictures revealed nothing paranormal. The light where the tree limb should have been was most likely caused by a moving flashlight. The face was a picture shot without realizing it while the camera was facing the red dirt and a flashlight for lighting. It looked like there were tons of “orbs” in many pictures, but these could have been caused by reflections, bugs, dust, pollen and who knows what else.
Over all it was a good learning experience and we had fun. The investigation and pictures will be discussed at our next meeting along with training on orbs. We can’t wait for our next investigation.
Our Alternative Web Page for CCLPS Before Our Blog!
Posted in investigation with tags ghost, paranormal on April 4, 2009 by mardeckI never thought this paranormal group would be comprised of women when I started the group. I think it’s neat that it turned out this way. Our first investigation ended with a hoot when many of the women took of running at full speed to their cars when a noisy pack of coyotes came close! Forget about running into stray people or astral beings – those are ok – just don’t send out the coyotes.
It was not at the location we had arrangements to investigate. That was changed at the last minute at the request of one of the owners. We were able to conduct an official investigation in the location we did only if we agreed to keep the name and location private. We did this with no problem. This was requested because the site has been touted as “haunted” for longer than I can remember. I’ve been in this area for about 25 years. Teens like to go to this and there has been a lot of vandalism. The gate is always kept shut and locked. It is an old cemetery and we definitely appreciated the ability and trust in allowing us to investigate the site.
We reviewed evidence during our meeting. The only evidence we obtained that night was a possible EVP.
